no journal, ,

Adaptation of the phosphate conversion technique has been evaluated to recycle the spent electrolyte generated from metal electrorefining process which is a kind of pyrochemical reprocessing technologies. In the process, accumulated impurities such as fission products are precipitated as phosphate by adding lithium phosphate and separated from the molten salt. The conceptual flow sheet has been discussed based on the thermodynamic property of constituent. However few thermodynamic data have been published relating to the phosphate, they were attempted to be derived from the results of calorimetry and thermal analysis. In this study the enthalpy and the heat capacity were estimated with lithium phosphate and some FP phosphate and the phosphate conversion reactions were evaluated.

The Network for actinide research in Japan; J-ACTINET

Minato, Kazuo

no journal, ,

To promote and facilitate the actinide research, close cooperation with the facilities and sharing of technical and scientific information must be very important and effective. The network for actinide research in Japan, J-ACTINET, has been established since March 2008. Through cross-sectional utilization of facilities and equipment of new advanced tools, attractive research environment has been maintained for students and young scientists. The J-ACTINET summer school 2009 and 2010 were held, where students and young scientists had an experience of handling actinide materials and solutions. The J-ACTINET summer school and winter school will be held for students and young scientists, and they will be given chances to attend the summer school in Europe and international scientific conferences.

Distribution and the chemical state of Ru element in the simulated high-level waste glass were examined by using the synchrotron radiation based X-ray imaging technique. In this technique, a direct X-ray CCD camera is used in place of an ion chamber. Position sensitive X-ray absorption spectra were obtained by analyzing gray scale in images of the X-ray CCD camera. It can be seen that Ru element scattered in the glass sample exists as oxide RuO$$_2$$.
